Christmas Brunch

Hello ladies! Just your reminder about the Christmas Brunch at MOPS this Thursday! Things to remember:

-Bring a wrapped gift under $10 for the gift exchange.

-(Optional) Bring cookies for the cookie exchange - wrap one dozen in each package and label with the ingredients in case of allergies. Bring a dozen, take a dozen. Bring 5 dozen, take 5 dozen!

-Anyone with a last name beginning with A through H should bring a potluck dish to share. Steering Team, please bring a dish regardless of your name (main dishes are usually most needed).

-Remember any items you signed up to bring for the Christmas hamper.

MOPS Christmas Craft & Other Reminders

Hello ladies! I have a few reminders for you!

First, the TV showings of Focus on The Family's "Irreplaceable" are tonight. It’s a documentary that seeks to uncover whether or not family still matters in today’s society and to understand the importance of family in today’s society.  It’ll be on Vision TV @ 5pm, Hope TV @ 6pm, Yes TV (Calgary) @ 6pm or you can stream it on your computer. It’s for 15 years of age & older.

Secondly, Brianna's work-out group will meet again tomorrow (Monday) morning from 9:15-10:15am. We want to remind you that you're welcome to bring your kids along. Her play room is just off of her workout room so it's easy to keep an eye on them.

This Thursday is MOPS! We'll be doing our Christmas craft and will each go home with 3 beautiful frames made of upcycled CDs or DVDs! We will have everything you need, but if you want to bring some old CDs or DVDs to use, feel free. They need to have no label/sticker on them. If you don't have any, don't sweat it as we've purchased all we need! PLEASE BRING A PAIR OR TWO OF SHARP SCISSORS. We'll each need a pair of scissors to make our frames so if you have an extra pair, it will help those who forget or who don't know to bring one.

Also, in the last email I send out I had said we were rescheduling our coffee night for Dec. 4. I had totally forgotten that we already have a moms' night out planned for that night! Sorry for the confusion! The correct event will be at "Colour Me Mine" in Airdrie to paint ceramics (at your cost), starting at 7:00pm. We'll have a sign-up sheet at the next MOPS so we have an idea of numbers. If you won't make it to MOPS, you can reply to this email to RSVP.

Mind Monsters Session 1

Hello ladies! We have another Casual Connections With God tomorrow morning from 9:15-10:15 at the church, with childcare. Join us as we begin the video series entitled "Mind Monsters". The first session is on "Negative invaders of the mind" - "You can't have a positive life with a negative mind". I hope you'll join us!

MOPS with guest speaker Ruth Clarence

Hello ladies! We have a great MOPS this week! We'll be welcoming back guest speaker and intimacy expert, Ruth Clarence. She'll be speaking on "How to get your husband to talk to you". She is so funny and informative, it should be a really great time! Please note that we WILL be starting on time so please arrive early enough to check your kids in and be at your table by 9:15!

A couple more things-

Unfortunately we aren't going to be able to make our "MOPS Christmas shopping" babysitting event work due to scheduling issues. We're hoping to do some sort of "date day" babysitting event happen sometime early next year, so we'll keep you posted.

Starting Monday, November 17th Brianna Anderson is opening up her home gym for a MOPS workout group! She will be leading a Curves gym style workout, with workout cards and rotating every few minutes between cardio and resistance exercises. The group will meet every Monday from 9:15-10:15am. It'll be drop-in, no long-term consistent commitment required. Just show up and see who your workout buddies will be that day! Stay tuned for directions to Brianna's house.

Our next MOPS Coffee Night at Humpty's will be Thursday, November 20th starting at 7:00pm.

Casual Connections tomorrow

Hi ladies! Just a quick (and late) reminder that we have our Casual Connections With God tomorrow morning, at the church at 9:15am, with childcare (free!) We'll be finishing the second half of the video "Crave the Documentary" and discussing. Crocktober!

Hello ladies! It's finally here! The much awaited Crocktober! Please join us on Thursday, bring your crockpot or a large freezer bag, and you'll go home with a fabulous meal to plug in and enjoy. If you don't have a crockpot, come anyways, armed with your sob story, as we'll have 3 to give away to those who need them most! Karen Machacek will also do a cooking presentation for us, I always love all of her tips. See you then!

Casual Connections with God AND Crocktober recipes

Hello ladies! Just a quick reminder that we have Casual Connections With God this Thursday morning at the church from 9:15-10:15, with childcare. We'll be watching the first half of a video that should bring up some excellent conversation! I hope you can join us!

Also, as in previous years, we'll be compiling our Crocktober crockpot cookbook handout to be passed out at the next MOPS. If you have any crockpot recipes that you and your family enjoy, please email them to me before next Monday (the 20th). I'd love to have a bunch of new ones this year to add to the previous ones! Main dishes, sides, desserts, beverages, it's all good!

MOPS this week - Mentor Mom Panel

Hello ladies! Just your friendly reminder that we have Crossfield MOPS this week! We'll be having our fabulous Mentor Mom Panel - this is one meeting that was mentioned over and over as your favourite MOPS from last year on the evaluation forms. We get to know our Mentor Moms better (who do you relate to most?) as well as glean from their wisdom and experience of raising young (and older) kids! It's also very entertaining, like watching our own little talk show! I hope you can join us! Thursday, 9:15am at the church. See you then!

Casual Connections with God

Hello ladies! I'm not sure I've ever done a reminder this late but better late than never! We have our very first Casual Connections with God tomorrow morning from 9:15-10:15! (I'm told that this is NOT a Christian dating service. Just saying LOL.) Join us at the church for coffee and a very laid-back, mom-focused service. We have 2 fabulous MOPS moms leading us - Erin Fredlund for singing and Desiree Vincedeau for the message, then time for discussion. Everyone is welcome no matter where you stand spiritually, and all women are invited whether MOPS moms or not (I've invited my mom!) For our first meeting, Desiree will be sharing her own personal story and from what I hear, it's very relateable to everyone and a real tear-jerker at times! I'm so looking forward to it! So we just invite you to come give us a try, there will be free childcare as always, and it should be a real encouraging morning. See you at 9!

MOPS starts THIS WEEK!!

Hello ladies!! It's finally that time! Crossfield MOPS starts up again this Thursday! Join us at the Crossfield Baptist Church from 9:15-11:00am (come a bit early to settle your kids into childcare)!

 

This Thursday we'll be assigning Discussion Groups, Registering, getting to know each other, and receiving our welcome gifts. Our on-time draw has to do with the welcome gifts (hint: think jewelry!) so you'll want to come before 9:15!

 

We are so excited to start another year with our new theme: Be You Bravely!

A few notes to remember:

-Please don't bring sick kids - sharing germs is not our idea of a good time!

-If your kids are aged 2 or older, please bring a snack to share with their room (ONE unsliced piece of fruit or a little bag of crackers)

-If you are registering, please bring 2 cheques with you - one for the $35 registration fee, and one POST DATED for May 1, 2015 for $20 that will be shredded when you take a turn in the childcare rooms.

-If you have any questions, feel free to let me know! There will be greeters at the door in case you don't know what you're doing!

MOM'S NIGHT OUT!!

Hello ladies!!  Finally it's time! This Thursday night, we'll all be going to see the movie "Mom's Night Out"! Leave the kids with Dad; he won't burn the house down, I promise! Get a babysitter if you have to (like me!) We'll be meeting at the Crossfield Community Centre's parking lot for carpool/caravan to the movie. Please be there by 6:30pm so we can get organized and leave at 6:45pm. If you'd rather just meet us at the theatre, we're seeing the 7:40pm showing at Country Hills (Landmark 16).

Moms worship this week

Hello ladies! Enjoying this beautiful spring weather? ;)

This week we have MOPS moms worship on Wednesday morning from 9:15-9:45am, with childcare. Come join us at the church! We'll have worship one more time after this week and then will take a break for the summer (I'm sure it'll be summer by the end of May right??)

Spring Brunch this week and coffee tomorrow!

Hello ladies! This is it- our final MOPS meeting for the season! We've had such a fantastic year and are so blessed by all of you. We'll have our spring brunch this Thursday morning - last names beginning with I-Z please bring a potluck dish to share! We will have a great time together eating great food!

 

Also! Tomorrow night (Tuesday) we'll be at Humpty's for our mom's coffee date! Join us anytime after 7:30. If you're later than 8:30 and want to make sure we're still there please feel free to text me at 403-875-7080.

 

And don't worry, we still have plenty planned for the rest of the spring and summer! The "official" end of MOPS is not the end!

Spring Craft!

MOPS this week on Marriage!

Hello ladies! Just your reminder that we have MOPS this Thursday! We'll be hearing about and discussing marriage - should be a great one!

 

Also, we have urgent need for approximately 20 frozen meals in the next 2 months and our freezer is empty! If anyone is able to supply a meal or two that would be awesome. You can bring them to any MOPS, or just bring them to the church during business hours (call 403-946-5651 to make sure someone is there), then let Sandra or me know that you've done so. Please label the meal with the ingredients or recipe.

Spa Day!!

Hello ladies! This is it, the event you've waited all year for! We are so happy to be able to spoil you all again at SPA DAY! Come for some great treatments and some delicious chocolate fondue! Bring a friend, this is a great opportunity to introduce other ladies to our group!

 

This year, we will be doing sign-up for treatments that morning. So come early to get your first picks (no earlier than 9:00 please!) You can choose 2 (15 minute) treatments from the following: Massage, Reflexology, Sugaring, Hair Styling, Manicure, Pedicure, Facial. If you choose to have a pedicure, please bring a pair of flip flops.

Everyone doing treatments is volunteering their services so please make sure to get a business card or contact info from them so you can support their businesses!

Also, we have some events going on next week just in case you're bored during Family/Reading week! We'll have our coffee date on Tuesday (Feb. 18) at Humpty's - drop in anytime between 7:30-10:00pm! Then on Wednesday morning (Feb. 19) from 9:15-9:45 we'll have our Moms worship service at the church.

Hello ladies! Just a reminder of some of the events we have coming up!

 

This Wednesday morning from 9:15-9:45 we'll be having our Moms Worship service. This is really informal, a way to recharge and a great way to start the day. We are excited to welcome our own Erin Fredlund as our worship leader! Childcare will be provided so please join us!

Next Tuesday evening (Jan. 21) at 7:30 we'll be meeting for our coffee date at Humpty's (east side of Hwy2 at Crossfield). Please join us for a mom-only date night, it's always a great time!

Our next MOPS is next Thursday (Jan. 23) so stay tuned for more info on that!

We have Crossfield MOPS tomorrow morning! It's PJ & Movie day - moms and kids come in your pyjamas or sweats. In keeping with the "A Beautiful Mess" theme, come as you are - if you dare! We'll be watching a comedy video as usual and having all sorts of movie snacks!
